Apple Blythe Alison Martin (born 14 May 2004) is an English media personality, model, singer-songwriter, and socialite, who is the only daughter to Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Early life
[edit]Apple Blythe Alison Martin was born in London, England on 14 May 2004, as the elder child and only daughter to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and his then-wife,[1] Gwyneth Paltrow, an actress and businesswoman.[2][3] She has a younger brother, Moses Bruce Paltrow Martin (born 8 April 2006).[4][5] Her maternal grandmother is Blythe Danner, an actress.[6] Her parents divorced in 2016, when she was 12 years old.[7]
Martin first came to media attention within hours of her birth due to her unique name.[8] Her father and his band released a song called "I am your baby's daddy" under the name "the Nappies" in anticipation of her birth.[9] Coldplay's "Speed of Sound" was also inspired by her father's experience and awe at becoming a first time father, being the lead single for the band's X&Y album.[10] Simon Pegg and Jonny Buckland are her godfathers.[11][12]
Martin attended Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, California, leaving in 2017, after a series of incidents took place.[13][14] She graduated from Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California in 2022.[15] She has attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, since September 2022. She is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.[16]
Martin made her society debut at the Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris on 30 November 2024,[17][18] wearing a custom blue Valentino gown that took the atelier 750 hours to make.[19]
Career
[edit]Martin made her television debut at the age of two, in the third episode in the third season of the VH1 series VH1: All Access. The episode, "20 Cutest Celebrity Babies", was broadcast on 7 November 2006.[20]
Martin appeared in the fourth episode of the Netflix documentary series The Goop Lab. The episode, "The Health-Span Plan", was released on 24 January 2020.[21]
Martin made her debut as a model at Chanel's haute couture fashion show at Paris Fashion Week on 24 January 2023.[22][23]
Martin is credited as a songwriter on the Coldplay single, "feelslikeimfallinginlove", featuring Zerb, from the bands tenth studio album, Moon Music.[24][25] The song was released on 21 June 2024.[26] She is credited as a singer on several of the bands songs and albums.[27]
